One of the questions I hear most often from expecting moms is:

“Should my husband and children be included in my maternity session?”

The short answer is absolutely.

While beautiful portraits of mom and her growing baby bump are always an important part of a maternity session, some of the most meaningful images often include the people who are anxiously waiting to welcome baby too.

Pregnancy isn’t just a journey for mom. It’s a season of anticipation for the entire family.

Maternity Photos Tell a Bigger Story

When most people think of maternity photography, they picture a beautiful portrait of an expecting mother.

While those images are important, maternity sessions are really about documenting a family’s story during a season of transition.

Your baby may not have arrived yet, but they are already deeply loved.

Including your spouse and children helps tell the complete story of this chapter before your little one enters the world.

Dads are often behind the scenes preparing for baby’s arrival, supporting mom, and counting down the days just as eagerly.

Children are naturally curious, energetic, and sometimes unpredictable—and that’s perfectly okay.

Instead, I guide families through simple prompts and interactions that create genuine moments and natural expressions.

Many dads leave saying it was much easier—and much more enjoyable—than they expected.

These Photos Become More Valuable Over Time

Right now, it may feel like you’re simply documenting your pregnancy.

Years from now, you’ll realize you were documenting something much bigger.

You were preserving:

My Recommendation? Include Them.
