cameras & lenses

These are the cameras and lenses that have been with me through thousands of sessions here at The Little Ranch Farm. I believe it's less about owning the newest gear and more about truly knowing the equipment you have. Every piece below has earned its place in my camera bag.

The camera that helped build my business—and one I still use today.

My D750 has been with me through thousands of sessions and continues to be one of my primary cameras. During almost every session, I carry two camera bodies, each with a different lens attached, so I can quickly switch perspectives without constantly changing lenses.

The D750 is dependable, produces beautiful files, and has never stopped delivering the quality my clients expect. It's proof that you don't need the newest camera on the market to create timeless images.

My mirrorless partner.

Alongside my D750, the Nikon Z6II has become an important part of my workflow. Between the two cameras, I have the flexibility to move seamlessly through every session while keeping the lenses I need ready at all times.

I love its autofocus, excellent low-light performance, and how naturally it fits into the way I photograph families, newborns, maternity, and everything in between.

My go-to lens for most of my studio work.

This lens spends more time on my camera than almost any other. It's my favorite choice for newborns, children, families, maternity, and just about everything I photograph inside the studio. I love the natural perspective it gives while still allowing me to work comfortably in tighter spaces.

It's incredibly versatile and has become one of the lenses I reach for over and over again.

If I could only keep one lens... this would be it.

The 85mm f/1.4 is hands down my favorite lens in my camera bag. If you've ever wondered where that soft, creamy background and beautiful compression in so many of my outdoor portraits comes from, this is it.

It's the lens I reach for whenever I have the space to step back. The way it renders light, separates my subjects from the background, and creates that timeless look I love is simply hard to beat.

If I had to photograph the rest of my career with only one lens, this would be the one.

The lens that makes me fall in love with outdoor sessions over and over again.

If there's room to back up, there's a good chance this lens is on my camera. It creates some of my favorite images because of the incredible compression, creamy backgrounds, and the way it separates my clients from everything around them.

I especially love using it for maternity, families, seniors, and children outdoors. It allows me to photograph from a distance, giving my clients room to relax and simply interact with each other. Those natural moments are often the ones that end up on their walls.

This lens is almost always in my camera bag and almost always on one of my two camera bodies during a session. If you've admired that soft, dreamy look throughout my portfolio, there's a very good chance this lens had something to do with it.
