One of the most common questions I receive from parents preparing for a newborn session is:

“Can big brother or big sister be included?”

The answer is always:

In fact, some of the most meaningful images from a newborn session are the ones that include older siblings.

One of the most beautiful things to witness during a newborn session is the bond beginning to form between siblings.

This allows us to work while attention spans are fresh and everyone is feeling their best.

Once we’ve captured those important family moments, parents have options.

Some families choose to have another adult take the older children for a snack, a playground visit, or a fun outing while we finish baby’s individual portraits.

Others choose to stay for the entire session.

There is no right or wrong approach.

We’ll do whatever works best for your family.

Flexibility Is Key

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that every family is different.

Some toddlers want to hold baby immediately.

Some need a little time.

Some are full of energy and ready to explore.

Some are shy and quiet.

Rather than forcing children into a rigid plan, I adapt the session to their personalities.

That flexibility often leads to the most authentic and meaningful photographs.

Safety Always Comes First

Whenever siblings are interacting with baby, safety is my top priority.

Every pose and setup is carefully guided and monitored.

If a particular pose isn’t safe or comfortable, we simply move on to something else.

Parents often worry about coordinating clothing for multiple children.

The good news is that simple is best.

Soft neutrals, earth tones, and classic colors photograph beautifully together.
