Family Session FAQ

Where do family sessions take place?
Family sessions are held at the Little Ranch Farm, my private outdoor portrait property in Santa Fe, Texas. With multiple portrait locations throughout the farm, we can create a beautifully varied gallery without ever leaving the property. Indoor studio sessions are also available if you prefer an indoor setting or the weather doesn't cooperate.

What should we wear?
Don't worry—we'll plan that together.
After booking, I'll help you coordinate outfits that photograph beautifully together while still feeling like your family. Neutral, earthy colors and timeless styles always photograph wonderfully, and I also have a small client closet available for little ones.

What if my children don't cooperate?
Please don't stress about it.
Children are never expected to sit perfectly or smile on command. Some want to explore, some need a little time to warm up, and some simply want to snuggle mom for a while—and that's perfectly okay.
I gently guide your family throughout the session while allowing plenty of room for genuine connection and natural interactions. Those authentic moments often become the portraits families treasure most.

What if my child won't smile?
Some of my favorite portraits happen when children are simply being themselves—snuggling with mom, laughing with dad, exploring the farm, or quietly taking everything in.
My goal isn't perfect smiles in every image. It's creating portraits that feel genuine and reflect your family exactly as you are in this season.

How long does a family session last?
That depends on the collection you choose.
The Homestead Collection is designed to be a shorter, relaxed session, while the Farm and Ranch Collections allow more time to explore multiple areas of the property and create a larger variety of portraits.

Can grandparents or extended family be included?
Absolutely.
Immediate families are always welcome, and extended family sessions can also be arranged. If you're planning to include grandparents, cousins, or multiple households, simply let me know when you inquire so we can choose the collection that's the best fit.

When is the best time to schedule our family session?
Most family sessions are photographed during the hour before sunset when the light is soft, warm, and incredibly flattering.
If you're hoping for wildflowers, Christmas portraits, or another seasonal setting, I recommend booking early since those dates tend to fill quickly.

Do you offer albums and wall art?
Yes.
Your portraits deserve more than living on a phone. Professional albums and wall artwork are available to help you enjoy your images every day, and the Ranch Collection includes a handcrafted heirloom album designed to be treasured for generations.
